Wool'A'Loop!
PUZZLE GAME - PC
Game Design & Programming - Unity
Imagine being a little wool ball in a hostile place where a giant cat tries to catch you and where hairballs can be a real danger for your life... Would you be brave enough to cross the house and find a safe place?
One button, one game: it was the rule of the project which inspired me Wool'A'Loop!. I did not want to take the one button condition as a constraint but as a gameplay system. I started to think about a "coil" mechanic that I kept: thereby Wool'A'Loop! is born.
The recoil mechanic consists of rewind wool that you scatter behind you. Each time you go forward, the character's scale reduces until it would be completely uncoiled and it couldn't move anymore. It can recover its size as well as its wool... if this one has not been cut by enemies!

First experience with Unity and C#
Wool'A'Loop! was my first project created on Unity and coded by myself in C#. I did not want to limit my ideas because of my coding level, so I dug into the documentation to learn in order to create a game as close as possible to my concept. Thanks a lot to my mates too, who helped me to understand C# better and gave me tips to optimize my code.
Create a convincing prototype
Even if Wool'A'Loop! was intended to be a prototype, I wanted to give the character an aspect and a personality that goes with the main mechanic. I also wanted to tell its story through the level. My objective was to stay simple - I only used specific materials and Unity shapes that I combined - and give the minimum of information to understand the universe in which the players evolve.
